It was shown that Jon Snow was the son of Ned Stark, but then later it was revealed that Jon Snow is a Targaryen. Jon Snow is the son of Rhaegar Targaryen. Rhaeger Targaryen was the eldest son of the mad king, Aerys II Targaryen and Rhaeger died even before the games of thrones event had begun.
